The Munich Oktoberfest is the biggest beer festival in the world and over 200 years old. I’ve never been there but many foreigners travel to Germany each year just to get drunk.

Mega Hanami 2010

The number of meetup groups grew considerably since I came to Tokyo in 2007. Mega Hanami was a meet-up organized by multiple groups and we all came together to Yoyogi Park, probably the best free hanami (cherry blossom watching) spot in west Tokyo.

I don’t know whose idea it was, but after the Design Festa, we went to the German Fest in Hibiya Park. When we arrived there we were surprised to hear nothing at all, but after walking a bit through the park we reached the place were German (Bavarian) culture was celebrated.

If Kawagoe is Tokyo’s Little Edo, Takehara is Hiroshima’s Little Kyoto. In this case though, it’s the town’s tourist department that calls Takehara the „Little Kyoto of Aki Province“.
