Pride parades by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community (LGBT) are common in the west and have been held in Tokyo since 1994. There were no parades held in the years 2008, 2009 and 2011, due to a dispute between organisers.

The number of meetup groups grew considerably since I came to Tokyo in 2007. Mega Hanami was a meet-up organized by multiple groups and we all came together to Yoyogi Park, probably the best free hanami (cherry blossom watching) spot in west Tokyo.

They say that the best seasons to visit Japan are spring and fall. Last year I arrived in time for the last days of the cherry blossoms and only had little time to photograph the leaves in autumn (Momiji). This year I’ve got more time and so I went to Yoyogi Park today.
